Pancake Race 2011

Forty runners entered the RAF Coningsby Pancake Race held on Tuesday 8 March 2011, which was organised by the Station Padre, (Reverend) Wing Commander Mike Elliott and Chaplain’s Clerk, Mrs Brenda Noble.

Each team of four made a donation of £1 to enter, some chose to participate in fancy dress.

The Mechanical Transport (MT) Control team dressed as pirates and the Tanker Pool team not only donned ‘vehicle attire’ to complete the obstacle race, but they were joined together in pairs, which made for an amusing spectacle, especially when they tried to toss pancakes!

Deputy Commander Royal Engineers (DCRE) were the winning team; their prize was a frying pan!

Station personnel were invited into the Church Hall after the race, where they could eat sweet pancakes and drink tea in exchange for a £1 donation.  The refreshments were prepared and served by Catering Flight personnel and other willing volunteers.  In excess of £80 was raised in all, which will go to a well deserving local cause.
