5 personnel from RAF Coningsby travelled down to Brize Norton on Wednesday 8th May to attend the first in the RAF Tri a Tri Series.

It was an early start and the weather was not looking favourable for the event however by the time we got to Brize Norton the sun was shining and spirits were high. After a briefing from the race officials it was soon time for the first competitors to get in to the swimming pool for the 400 metre swim. Encouraged by fellow team members and other RAF personnel competitors competed in the 3 disciplines with great success. The 20km bike ride took competitors out around the local area on flat, fast roads with only pot holes and the odd airplane slowing riders down. Transition was well marshalled with lots of support on what to do and when and then it was out on the 5km run around a local housing estate and through a meadow before finishing back on Station. Once completed it was a great opportunity for us to encourage other team members and be inspired watching some of the RAF Elite Squad compete against each other. The day was a great success and it was fabulous having good representation from RAF Coningsby. We are in the process of rejuvenating the RAF Coningsby Triathlon Club so if you are interested in having a go at Triathlon please contact Cpl Sean Powers for more information. You do not have to be great at any one particular area and we are fortunate to have a huge amount of experience on Station and further afield to help you in any of the 3 disciplines so drop Cpl Powers an email today and get involved!
