RAFA’s brew for the few

On the 14th September, RAF Coningsby’s Royal Air Force Associations (RAFA) held its brew for the few event in aid of the Wings Appeal.

The event was held at the Chaplaincy centre and was organised by RAFA member Cpl Del Baxter with the help of Cpl Iain Taylor and Cpl John Bryce who are also all active members of the stations RAFA organisation.
The event was held for not only the serving personnel of the station, but also ex-serving and veterans of the local Coningsby area, this gave all those who attended a chance to come together for a chat in a neutral and friendly environment by sharing a brew and a cake or two.
The Chaplaincy centre allowed RAFA to utilize a room to set up the cake stand and provided brew making facilities, this worked well, with kind donations from the local CO-OP in Coningsby village, and some home baked cakes that were donated by one of the SAC’s wives.
Veterans and serving personnel from across the whole of RAF Coningsby and the local community attended along with a nice surprise visit from the Station Commander.
After a strong morning of making coffees and teas the event was hailed a success for not only bringing the local community and the station together, but also raising a total of £121.63 for the RAFA.
