The Golden Couple
The children at RAF Coningsby Nursery suprised them both by presenting them with cards which they had made.
Wing Commander James Brayshaw, Officer Commanding Base Support Wing, presented them with a gift of a photo frame; they also received two golden wedding rose bushes from the staff at the nursery.
This was followed by a reminiscence of the year 1962 and a sing-along by all the children and staff. The couple married in March 1962; Valerie has worked at the nursery since 1978. John is retired from the RAF after a 28 year career. During his service he served at Wittering, and overseas in Germany and Cyprus before returning to Coningsby, where they now live.
