RAF Coningsby annually enters the Defence Road Safety Award (Rose Bowl) which promotes safe driving standards and rewards effective road safety initiatives through the presentation of a high profile and prestigious award. MT has run various initiatives to help keep personnel safe through the winter these have included:

Beer Goggles

These allow personnel to experience a lack of co-ordination in a safe environment in the hope that they will realise how alcohol can affect them and stop personnel from drinking and driving.

Skid Car

During the week 19-23 Nov 12, MT Training and Standards gave RAF Coningsby personnel an introduction to skid awareness training to help keep personnel safe on the roads during the winter months.  MT is holding more opportunities for RAF Coningsby personnel to have a go 10-14 Dec 12.

Brake Reaction Tester

This allows personnel to see how their reaction times vary under different situations such as on their own concentrating, talking to a passenger and on a mobile telephone.

Cycle Safety

There are a large amount of personnel that cycle to and from work and MT have been encouraging them to be seen be safe by handing out Hi-Vis vest to personnel who are not wearing reflective clothing to ensure they are visible to all road users.
