Editor’s Foreword issue 6
Welcome to the sixth and final edition of onetoone for 2011. As I am due to be posted in January, this will be my last edition as Editor. Therefore, I would like to express my thanks to all those who have contributed to the magazine over the last year, the distribution team, deputy editors, publishers, and not least of all, those who have taken the time to submit articles, providing the lifeblood which sustains the magazine and allows us to inform and record on life around one of the Royal Air Force’s premiere stations. Please keep the articles coming!
In this edition, we have a range of articles but my own personal favourites include: the report on the BBMF 400 miles in 4 days cycle ride which took place together with the Red Arrows and has so far raised over £80,000 for good causes, including the Jon Egging Trust; the report on the 24th annual Boston Slog which saw many runners and riders race a 28 mile round trip – not for the faint hearted; and perhaps most importantly the article which the front cover reflects, detailing some of the remembrance activities which took place in and around Coningsby this year.
As I reflect back on my time as Editor, I feel that I have upheld the traditions of helping create a quality, interesting and informative journal of Station life and I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to do so. We have also worked with the publishers to produce an online version as well now; the web address is listed on the opposite page. This is to complement the hard copy rather than be a substitute for it and should enable our personnel deployed overseas to keep in touch with station life during any time away.
The new editor will be Squadron Leader Ian Heath, OC Force Development Squadron, 01526 347939. In order to meet the publishing deadline for Issue 1 in 2012, articles should ideally be sent to CON-FDS-OC by 16th January. Alternative
e-mail addresses for submission are CON-GMB-121 Editor and the deputy editor, CON-FES-SEF-OC. The address for postal submissions is: OC Force Development Squadron, RAF Coningsby, LN4 4SY.
